Lately I have noticed a lot of felt made products in stores and on websites. I feel a trend, and it is so hard not to come home with something when they look as good as these, and so colourful. From top to bottom, here are some of the things that are on offer. The huge Artichoke Ottoman by Moa Jantze at Okko Deisgn; a Felt Wine Rack by Etcetera Media; the Seat Slice in Pink by ZigZign, get them at Branch Home; the beautiful Selina Rose pillows, rugs and runners; Anne Kyyro Quinn ottomans; and if all this is inspiring your own handiness then you can make your own ottoman just like the last picture; not actually felt – but it is wool. A perfect weekend project that satisfies the DIYers.

Wrought Iron Romance
I discovered the image above at a website called Mina Perhonen, who have stores in Japan. I just fell in love with the cute dog hanging rack and table made from wrought iron and pressed metal. It just makes me want to forgo our closed closets and find someone clever enough to make these. It sure beats the look of the superstore portable wardrobe. Imagine how pretty everything would look hanging from, or sitting on, these pieces of art. Their clothes are just as groovy, as are the textiles on the furniture, take a look right here.

Dot Art – Divine
I have a weakness for pretty bowls and Aida Dirse has hand painted the most beautiful collection ever. They remind me of aboriginal art which I would love for my wall. Perhaps one of these will get me through till I can buy a canvas to complement it. They are for sale at Rare Device right here or if they are a little above the budget and you are feeling inspired perhaps get along to your closest ‘paint-a-plate’ store and make one of your very own.

Clean Icecreams
So here’s something we could do with. The DripStick can hold an icecream in a cone or on a stick and catches all that mess that makes you hover over your child with a wipe. Just flip it up whichever way required for your treat. Our son would appreciate the drip tray to drop the large chunks he bites off – his teeth must really hurt, but it makes for the funniest facial expressions, however a ‘meltdown of cries’ begins after as he drops it into his lap. He just can’t quite master the art of licking and biting quickly. Made of dishwasher safe polypropylene, they are available in six colors. For more information go to the website. US$3.89 each at Amazon.

Bring a Plate

After browsing through shops looking for a wedding gift for friends living overseas, I discovered the Bring-A-Plate ceramic dishes in the shape of New Zealand. It comes as a boxed 3-piece set: North, South and Stewart Island. Best of all it is dishwasher and microwave safe and made in New Zealand by Nuzilla. I could imagine using the big islands for olives and the smaller island for the pips…or for a taste of home perhaps chunks of Feijoa and Kiwifruit… bon appetit! You can buy it here.
